The Natural Educational Path ‘On the Trail of Kingfisher’ invites nature enthusiasts and hikers to explore from the village of Cerovo, towards Log pod Cerovim, through the edge of the forest, past meadows, to the hamlet of Podlom and the source of Podlomščica.

This area is known as the land of the ‘Podlomars’, from the local legend. From here, the path ascends through the karst forest terrain to Županova Jama (Mayor’s Cave) and continues towards one of the few remaining anti-Turkish forts, Tabor above Cerovo. It then descends back to the village of Cerovo.

The entire route of the circular trail is 5.2 km long, but you can also walk a shorter circuit by taking the path that leads to Cerovo in Podlomo. The trail is signposted and there are three information boards showing a panoramic map of the area. The first information board is located in the village centre of Cerovo.

Along the way, visitors can stop at 22 signs with educational content. One of the special features of the trail are the interactive boards, which, in addition to pictures and short descriptions of the birds that live here, allow you to listen to the calls of each bird. In cooperation with ornithologists, nest boxes for the Lapwing, the Siskin, the Great and Tufted Titmice and other forest birds have been set up in the area of the nature trail. Special, large nest boxes have also been set up for the Barn Owl, Barn Owl and Barn Owl.
