In Mala Račna at Nature Park of Radensko Polje, the first nature conservation center in Slovenia was established. Named Žabja Hiša (Frog House), this nature conservation centre was created as part of the Interreg project ‘Vezi narave‘. A unique feature of Frog House is its location on an island, right next to the source of the karstic Šica watercourse.
As part of the INTERREG Slovenia- Croatia project named ‘VEZI NARAVE‘, an old, abandoned building was renovated in 2021. This building, which served as a secret intelligence service center during the Yugoslav era and a vital village mill before that, has now been transformed into Frog House. This is now the site of the Frog House.
In Frog House, visitors can learn about the living and non-living nature of the extraordinary natural Park of Radensko Polje using various interpretative tools. The exhibition also reveals the most hidden corners of this natural karst gem, where three watercourses, along with human intervention, have shaped the landscape for centuries as we know it today.
Visitors are invited to view this impressive exhibition about the Radensko Polje and the importance of preserving and caring for nature for our descendants.
